Preparing my departure for Trinidad Carnival 2010

There’s 9 days left till I depart to Trinidad & Tobago for Carnival 2010. I finally booked my Tobago resort which wasn’t easy. Can I tell you, it was very hard to find available accommodations; either there are no rooms available or a minimum stay of 5 days which I only plan to stay in Tobago for two nights. My friends and I have decided to stay at the Turtle Beach by Rex Resort. The hotel is rated as a 3 star hotel, I’ve heard mix reviews so I’m just taking a chance and see what my experience will be. http://www.rexresorts.com/_caribbean/_tobago/_turtle_beach/index.html

This week I’m starting to stash items in my suitcase. Yep, for the 9 days my suitcase will be laying on my bedroom floor. It helps me mentally prepare for my vacation.

My fete (party) schedule is organized. (Thanks to Summer aka “ticketfinder”) for all your help. If you are going to TnT for Carnival you have to send money for your tickets well in advance, by the time you arrive tickets are sold out or the price has increased. I will be attending Flight Cruise (Landed), Eye Wide Shut, Bacchanal Wednesday, Beach House, Frenzy Boat Ride, Girl Power, Diamond Vale Breakfast fete, on the road with Tribe http://www.carnivaltribe.com/ Monday and Tuesday, Zen nightclub Wednesday and then head to Tobago on the Thursday.

So from now till departure to keep me excited and warmed up I’ve been listening to some of  Trinidad's top radio stations for the new soca song release, you should see me at my desk; just wining into my chair and smiling of what memories to come on this trip. My top 3 songs are 1. JW & Blaze "Palance" 2. Machel Montano "Bumper to Fender" and 3. Buffy "Anthing"

So the countdown has begun and I’m so excited to leave my cold city T.O.

10 Reason why you should go on vacation

It’s the beginning of the year and I had to book my vacation dates at work for 2010. I notice a few team members had booked days off but have no intentions leaving the city or country. I can’t take a week off work and just stay home, I need to hop on a plane and have fun. I strongly believe we as human beings need to take some time out and go on vacation.

Here are 10 reasons why you should go on vacation:

1. A Rest for your Body & Mind – How refreshing to let go of daily tasks and relax into something new, it allows you time to listen to your body and pay attention. Many physical illnesses come from lack of down time and stress.

2. Recharge- Most of us live extremely busy lives, there’s no better way to recharge than to have nothing to do all week while the great resort of employees cater to all of your needs.

3. Let someone else do the work- When you’re at an all inclusive resort there always someone cooking for you someone cleaning up your room every single day. It’s a great feeling that you don’t have to worrying what to cook for dinner or what to pack for lunch.

4. Escape from reality- Let’s be honest reality isn’t always the greatest. Just to escape for a week or two or even 2 days makes the price of a vacation worth it for me. We need to come out of our normal lives and escape to relaxation and have fun.

5. You need to reconnect: Maybe you need to reconnect with your spouse, friends, kids, parents or maybe you need to reconnect with yourself. Invite whoever it is that you’re missing and spend time reconnecting.

6. Gain Perspective on life- During day to day work our minds are caught up with the problems and activities of the job. Vacations are time for a change in pace. A great vacation might cause you to think “This is what life is about”?? Ask yourself- Do you live to work or work to live??

7. To have an adventure. Many travelers look to vacations for exciting experiences that stir emotions. Adventure, whether dangerous or romantic, provides the heightened sensation that we all seek.

8. Learn something new – What better way to learn about the world than to get out and experience it first hand. It’s great for you to learn different cultures, food, history, geography and more.

9. Make lasting memories – Great vacation memories are something that you’ll get to enjoy for the rest of your life.

10. Just have fun.
