Well, it’s that time of the year again, Trinidad Carnival is approaching and I can’t wait to head to the airport and land in Port of Spain. This Carnival will be my 10th year attending and I think this will be the best year ever. The music this year is fantastic from groovy to power soca and the competition for Soca Monarch Championship is fierce. The most exciting part is the STAGE. I remember the first time I decided to play mas with Island People (Jumbie section) the government decided to remove the stage, I was very disappointed however the experience had me hooked. You will not see me standing to the side or in other words "Wine to de side" come carnival Monday & Tuesday.
The last three years I played mas with Tribe, they are a organized and experienced band and you are guaranteed to have a postive experience with them. This year CLD has decided to bring 18 patrons to play mas with the sold out band Yuma Vibe. So far we are impressed by their glamorous presentation of costumes and their friendly and professional customer service. I was in Trinidad in January and had the pleasure to visit the mas camp, all I can say is FABULOUS. CLD crew is ready to take "Advantage" of the stage and get on "Wotless".
So where can you find CLD? we will be attending Machel in Concert, Eyes Wide Shut, Lime, Beach House, Frenzy Boat Ride, Soca Monarch, Eclipze, Sunny Side Up. You can see us painting the town with Insomniacs J'ouvert morning. I'm more excited about “Lime” this event is new and fresh. Lime will be held at the Hyatt Hotel, it's a all inclusive event with a all white and a touch of lime theme. What makes this event more interesting my favorite handsome actor Indris Elba (The Wire) and Hosea Chanchez, Wendy Raquel from “The Game” will be in attendance.
If your planning to go to Trinidad and have not organize your tickets for any of the events, hard luck….Carnival 2011 is SOLD OUT. I will try to update my blog during Carnival but if I can’t, I will definitely write a detail blog when I return. You can also follow CLD on twitter @ CLD_Carleen.
For those who are attending Trinidad Carnival 2011 be safe and have fun.
