Miami Carnival 2011

It's been over a month since Miami Carnival and I keep thinking about the beautiful  ocean view when you wake up in the morning. I guess this cold weather is already making me dream about the hot sun. Here is my review for Miami Carnival. I have rate all events with a thunder lightening as it rained most of the weekend.

Shine 35 advance tix. $40 at the door.

This event is a must attend event. Shine was the first event as part of our Miami Carnival festivities their theme this year was wear yellow with beach attire flare. The promoter’s B2B Entertainment and Giselle Wassi One changed the venue to a bigger location because last year you could barley move around, the place was packed. Shine was held at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. Party goers had a huge area to jump up and if you wanted to take a breather from all the bacchanal you could easily walk to the beach. The VIP section, main area and the bar section was pumpin. This event keeps getting bigger, as I heard there was a huge line to get into the party if you plan to attend next year, reach early. At one point they had some guys on stage throwing money to the crowd (personally I didn’t think that was cool steupssss)

I rate this event 7.5 thunder lightening because the vibe was ok, the location was great, music was good but I think I was missing the 1 liter Peach Snapps and Vodka jug they served last year.

Super F.R.I.E.N.D.S $35 advance tix.

This event is brought to you by SixAxisent. Super F.R.I.E.N.D.S is one of my favorite events to attend for Miami Carnival. This year the event was held at Grand Central which featured Bunji Garlin. I was really happy this event was indoors as it seemed the whole weekend would be rained out. The VIP area was packed! They served boneless chicken paleau, jerk rasta pasta and crudite and cupcakes that was catered by Gotta Have Khiah. The crowd was musically entertained by Cidee Sounds, Sprang Intl, Sounds 4 life and DJ Private Ryan. Bunji Garlin took the stage around 2 a.m. which had the crowd storm to the front of the stage. Bunji sang his greatest hits and had the crowd move from one side of the venue to the next side. Collin you always throw a sexy party THANK YOU!

I rate this event 9 thunder lightening because the venue was indoors, food served in VIP and fwyne ass Bunji Garlin performance was great.

Frenzy Boat Ride $45

Frenzy is a new event for Miami Carnival but originated in Trinidad for the Carnival festivities. Byrce Augiton from Island Boyz, Collin Rosales from Red Star Entertainment and Colin McFarlane from Sixaxisent joined together to bring Frenzy boat ride to Miami. The ride started from 2-6pm however due to the heavy rain the boat could not leave the dock. That didn't change the vibes though, that boat was still rocking from left to right. As we board the Musette we were greeted with a friendly welcome. Corn soup was served as well premium drinks (cash bar) I was pleased Nuvo was on the bar menu. The DJs Cidee Sound, House Arrest and Private Ryan and our most popular Toronto emcee Eman was on the mic. The best part of the ride is when Private Ryan played some old school and the crowd started to bang the boat with their hands and pulled out their old school moves on the dance floor. At one point there was a huge circle on the dance floor with people was showing their best moves to the crowd. I can't wait for Trinidad Carnival 2012 Frenzy boat ride.

I rate this event 9 thunder lightening as the crowd was in a Frenzy from start to finish. The bar tender’s were heavy with the liquor and the crowd had the boat moving even though the boat did not leave the dock.

Scorch/Lime $35

This event was right after Frenzy boat ride and as you can see there’s no time to sleep. I didn't want to miss another Scorch event since I had a blast on their boat ride in Barbados for Crop Over and the Lime event by Gresham Ent in 2010 Miami Carnival. Once I knew both promoters joined together, I knew this event would be crazy. The venue was held at Finnegan’s downtown Miami and we were musically entertained by Back 2 Basics and Private Ryan. Unfortunately, it rained all night but that did not bother some of the party goers. Some danced under the umbrella while some dance in the rain ( one or two jumped in the pool as well). People came out to party rain or shine. They also serve complimentary food. The crowd was mature and sexy.

I rate this event 8 thunder lightening because since the vibes were ok due to the rain. I do know some know plenty people enjoyed themselves at the party. As Machel Mantano would say “ Vibes cyah done”.

Here are some pics below of all events:

Miami Carnival Day - Carnival Nationz Miami

Finally the sun came out and we were able to jump up all day with clear skies. This is our second year playing mas in Miami with Carnival Nationz Miami. This band is an all inclusive band which includes premium liquor, breakfast and lunch. I noticed the Toronto section has increased its members this year. Our band was in 2nd position on the road which was great as we were able to cross the stage early 6p.m. Last year we crossed around 9pm. At the end of the parade there was a huge area filled with food &  souvenir tents along with entertainment. After a large cup of fresh squeeze juice and little relaxation it was time to head back to the hotel.

I rate the road experience 10 thunder lightening because we finally got some sun, liquor was flowing all day and we crossed the stage at a decent time.

Miami Carnival was good but would have been great if it didn't rain to much. Next Carnival Destination is Trinidad Carnival 2012 and Jamaica Carnival 2012
